March Flower Of The Month - Delphinium

The Delphinium are a beautiful and vibrant flower, with tall spires of blooms. An elegant plant, this beauty comes in a variety of colours from blue, purple, white, red, pink and yellow. Delphiniums are a florists favourite, being one of the only blue coloured flowers and the perfect in-line flower.

The perfect addition to a cottage-style or country garden, Delphiniums come in variety of shapes and sizes, from dwaft-sized, medium and tall sizes of up to 6ft.

They are in season from October until May in New Zealand. They are grown throughout New Zealand and are hardy against frost and cold temperatures.

Please be aware however that Delphinium seeds and very young Delphinium plants are said to be extremely poisonous.
